In this section, daily “Notables” will highlight favorable matchups from across the MLB slate. The catch? We don’t just look at traditional stats—we dig into the xstats. For example, xBA estimates what a player’s batting average should be based on the quality and outcome probability of every ball they put in play. The same goes for xOBP and xSLG. We also take a look at xwOBA (explained below) and how many barrels a player has versus a certain pitcher and their hard hit rates. These stats help us be as predictive as possible, identifying players whose results may not yet reflect how well they’re actually hitting.

Below the slate, you’ll also find an xwOBA leaderboard featuring the hitters in our Notables section. Why xwOBA? Because it’s the best indicator of a hitter’s quality of contact and plate discipline. While not technically predictive, it gives us a clear read on who’s swinging the bat well and seeing the ball—key for spotting players who are heating up or outperforming traditional metrics. With this data-driven approach, we aim to get ahead in matchups others might overlook. (All data is pulled from BaseballSavant.MLB.com.)
